about

Waldo Reset (Eimear, Andy and Ed) are an art pop three piece from Sheffield/Wakefield UK, who, up until the recent global unpleasantness had spent the last few years honing their live 'act' in some of the least salubrious DIY spaces and function rooms that Yorkshire has to offer. Building on this experience, their debut album, "More Things To Say No To" was recorded in the weeks prior to the aforementioned ongoing global unpleasantness. The album now finds itself emerging, blinking into the sunlit uplands of 2021. It's a collection of songs as character studies, ranging from calm and contemplative, to the frayed and unhinged. The album was produced by the very excellent Tommy Binks. Waldo Reset hope that they can play these songs to you in person at some time in the near future.

Here (vimeo.com/393152356) the band can be seen in action during the recording of the song 'Alligator Eyes'. The song is partly ripped off of M R James' The Mezzotint, that is at the very least the idea of a malevolent figure in a picture which appears to be changing over a period of time, captivating and repulsing the attention of the academic who discovers it. The song came out of a series of improvisations and differs musically and lyrically everytime they play it, although the basic outline of the story is the same. For that reason the band decided to record it live in the studio (barring a few backing vocal and guitar overdubs), and this is the third take. They were joined by their friends Rowan, who provided the terrifyingly claustrophobic synths and deranged backing vocals, and Steve, who filmed the session for posterity.
